There are no direct replacement bulbs for this. I did a lot of research on this one a couple of months ago, and polaris is the only place to get a direct replacement! That being said, there a some different companies making HID or other bulbs that could work with some modifications, if you choose to cut and modify.

figures...right?
its the base on the bulb the I can't figure out,the wireing I can get past. this machine with hid's in would look awsome. I did the HID's on my king quad upper and lower lights and that thing looks mean.plus the amount of light they throw Is amazing.

does anyone have any idea what type of bulb the outlaws are. my brother just put a hid conversion on his kfx450 and they are awesome and bright as hell. so if anyone knows what type we could use that would be awesome.

thanks for any info

nothing. I kinda gave up on this. it sucks too cause this machine would look sick with HID's. the worst part is I know out there somewhere is the info were looking for.

From what I can tell it is the same bulb as the Pred. Not sure if anyone makes a HID for the Pred. I checked the parts list on the 07 which matches the predator....for what it is worth.

I've been searching for hid bulbs also but i had no luck. The only thing i found was from trial tech which has handlebar and frame mount hid kits. I was wondering what the max wattage i could install on the bike without burning anything out. Also has anybody bought the 50 watt bulbs from polaris and was there a big dif from the 35 watt?

Plainbroke

Anyone have the part number for the 50 watt bulbs,
by the way I was told the outlaws have a 200 watt stator so it should handle the 50s easily..

Anyone find a HID that would work????? I know the scrambler outlaw and predator all have the same bulb the scrambler just has the hi and low beams switched. Upon further research the scrambler is a 30w bulb and the others are 35w bulbs. Anyone find the number for the 50w version of this bulb from polaris..

Hey guys all you need is a H6M bulb

you can find the HID kits everywhere!

but remember you will only have low beam!

but also remember the HID bulbs are alot brighter than stock

Plainbroke

how does that H6M bulb fit in the factory location?

I bought 800 series HIDs and drilled a 1/2" hole through the base of the old bulb after removing the bulb of course then I carefully notched 3 places in the old bulb holder to accept the tabs on the 800 series bulbs. They fit like a glove and I did not have to change any of the factory headlamp parts, all I need to go back to factory stock is 2 new bulbs.. Oh and by the way the HIDs are about 2 times brighter and take no more watts to run that the factory ones did on low.. they do however take about twice the juice to fire them up but only for a second or two....... Next time I have the plastic off and can get the bulbs out easily I will post pics..

H6M is the factory size bulb but its a two filament bulb for the high/low however the hid bulbs are single filament bulbs and im not sure if they make a bi-xeon H6M bulb so you could have the high/low option.

all you have to do to find out if they make a bi-xeon in a H6M is contact a =HID dealer.

im not to concerned with not having high beam just because i never used my high beams and plus the hids are way brighter anyways.

That bulb looks like the one in my sons raptor..

what did you have to do for the wiring?

Plainbroke
01-04-2010, 04:19 PM
The pins on the HID box fit right in the current headlight plugs on my quad. The wiring on the stock headlights is a touch too light for the 80 watt start up on the HIDs but so far I have not had any problems I am thinking about running a wire from the battery up and using Relays to turn on the headlights. That would be the prefered way.. then you could just come off the factory headlight wiring to the relays and be more than safe... If you want wiring diagrams go to 12volt.com they have several ways to do the wiring..

I ordered the kit with 5000K 894 bulbs from ebay for 50 bucks.

^^ look good

but why all the modding of the bulb housing?

Plainbroke
01-04-2010, 10:36 PM
because Polaris uses a proprietary bulb you can not buy anywhere but from Polaris and I wanted to be able to remove it and put the stock bulbs back in without buying new housings.
The cheapest and easiest way to return the bike back to stock, and it can be done in minutes.. Also using the factory bulb base like I did, it uses the factory seal on the base to housing and the seal on the HID bulb to the base so no water or sand ect gets in..

I have been running them for a month or so now in deep snow, rain, mud ect. with no problems.. The only thing I wish is I could find a dual element bulb in the 800 series HIDs.. then I could have Hi and low.. Not that I need both but others might consider it rude to run through camp with the HIDs on they are VERY VERY INTENSE..

ic ic..

good idea

there's many different ways in doing this, did you run a separate wire with new relay to the battery or leave is stock? i was thinking or rewiring mine but haven't had any problems so ive left it alone.

you should post pics of the oem bulb so people can see the differences in them

how much cutting and splicing of the current wiring harness did you have to do to get them installed? can you turn them on and off with the OEM Switch? Were you able to leave the old connector that connected to the original bulb still wired up?
thanks

I did not cut splice anything, I put pin ends on the wires that come from the HIDs boxes and plugged them into the existing Headlight plug.. a little tape and a wire tie or two to keep them from coming apart and I was done.. I put double sided tape between the frame and the HID boxes (one for each light) and used big Zip ties to tie them to the frame, has been working fine for several months now.. just went riding in the snow again today and they worked great.. So far no issues doing it this way..

and yes the factory headlight switch turns them on when on Brights, you loose the hi/lo feature when you do this but who needs low beams after you install the HIDs.

I am going to change them over to the low beam side when I put the 6inch KC highlighter with HID H1 bulb in it on for the Dunes at snake hunt.
You should see it. It lights up the night like it is day time.. Pretty cool for 40 bucks including the light..

Gotta love HID's

did you see the HID helmet kits? their badass! they mount on your helmet and plug into a reto fit plug that comes with the kit. The plug is like a teather cord.

I don't think that I would want a pound of lights on my helmet, and deffenatly no the extra wind resistence on my head....JMO

I am with you, I think the extra up there to get caught on tree limbs ect. would be bad for my health.. I tend to see things too late to duck completely..

8000k will work also but they will not be as bright and the light will be blue in color.. 4300 to 5000K is closest to daylight..

What did those things cost you? and you really never catch them on trees ect? I think it would have benefits to have them on your helmet simply because where you look the light goes..

But don't freak out now I do not usually where a helmet unless at somewhere that requires it or the dunes where there are so many crazys around..

Around $150

i don't use them every time i ride but where i live we have around 150 acres and alot of big trails that need lit up at night when your riding, plus wherever you look is getting lit up. Nice to just bust them out sometimes and amaze everyone that's riding!

Wow that is 3 times what the HIDs on my quad cost and they are always there when I need them. Just flip the switch.. I would not mind having a set for my helmet but wow that is a lot of money for LIGHTS.. Glad you like them.

Thanks to plainbroke i have the exact same hid kit that he has and it was a breeze to install. Wow are they bright!!!
One thing i was wondering ..will they ever get to hot in the light socket area to do damage or melt ?

evil 525

Ya I just did mine too. Came out nice .very bright.. I don't know about a breeze but fairly straight forward. Plug and play with a bulb that actually fits...now that would be a breeze. To answer your question...no it will no get too hot or melt anything. They run cooler than stock bulbs.

This site has 35 or 55 watts
hid's:http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=product&id=101&parent=85

Do you think 55 watts would draw to much from the electrical system?

Where did you put the ballast??

Outlaw6;=-
03-04-2010, 12:29 AM
Myself i moved my voltage regulator up on the side of the frame and built a 2 piece bracket where the regulator use to be. It is hidden from view and away from any rocks hitting them, both ballasts fit side by side under there.
That system is different from the system i used Zac,which is the same as plainbroke.
