me and a couple other guys are thinking of building a quad this summer just for the fun of it and then selling it when we're finished so right now we're just thinking mainly of what engine to use...most preferably a two stroke.

we will probably be using a 250r frame just because we can get a hold of one pretty easily, and then we're thinking of putting a 2-stroke 400 dirtbike engine in it...but we also thought putting a banshee engine in it would be pretty interesting, an incredibly potent engine that was never put into the frame it deserved. but then again there are alot of nice 400-500 4-stroke bikes out there, crotch rocket engines, whatever.

just brainstorming so go ahead and throw things out there, engine - frame combos that are known to work, anything. its our first build so any tips etc....we have all the know how, just want to put together something that will work and that people will actually want to buy.

let me know what you guys would like to see....and rememer it will be on sale afterwards so...mention somethin you'd like and maybe in a couple months you'll get to buy it :D

I think I heard that putting a two strike bike engine in a quad frame doesn't work. There's just so much vibration it breaks stuff. I think I heard that on here.

pb_paulie put a 79' yz400 engine in a blaster frame so...i have little doubt that the 250r COULD handle it....but it would be a little rough im sure with the dirtbike engines lacking a counter balancer...

a buddy of mine built a hybrid that was a banshee frame with a cr500 engine. I know you're not looking to use a bashee frame, but this machine was built for the sole purpose of riding on ice. it doesn't get started unless the water's hard. regardless though, that thing seriously hauls @SS. that 500 engine was quick, then he put in a quadzilla 500 motor and was even faster. that thing was insane, even kinda scary to ride.

I would stick with either a dirtbike motor or a quad motor already, just because putting in a huge motor like a streetbike motor is kind of useless for me... I like to leave the ground once in a while, and you're not doing that with a CBR motor stuffed in there...

Heres a nicely built CR500 motor in a 250R, very clean.

But if your sole purpose is to build a dragster or somethign for the dunes or the strip, then street bike power rules... here's one of my favorites, an RC51 motor put into a YFZ, it was turboed as well...

i just sold a truck with that exact same motor and i loved it...had over 180,000 miles and was still going strong when i got rid of it :eek2: prolly not quite right for this build but i'll keep it in mind lol

so a cr500 kinda seems to be the way to go...anyone know a little bit about what kinda mods it takes to fit it into the 250r frame? pretty easy or....
