The bumper should come off just like the 250ex. If its all one then somebody must have welded it on the frame and your basically screwed unless you saw it off somehow. I wouldnt attempt it cause you could screw up the frame which is not good.

the grab bar on a 400ex can not be removed. its part of the sub frame. you can put a aftermarket sub frame on that . doesn't use a grab bar,

i was starting to wonder how you were gonna bend the bumper doin a wheelie  Yes the grab bar is all apart of the sub frame that is bolted onto the main frame. if you take the rear seat and fenders off you should see it pretty well.

now the 250r sub frame will bolt right up to the 400ex frame? and will the original seat latch right into place with the 250r sub frame attached

a lot of places do a mod to the sub frame they cut it off and weld tabs on it so you can mount a grab bar. Looks very slick. might as well get it power coated then too.

my88r, thank you sir for the link.

But dang, I am in the wrong business!! $370 !!

I just checked Honda retail for a new subframe and it is only $100. Time to warm up the Plasma cutter and the TIG and make my own.

Got any spare R grab bars I can borrow for mockup :-)

same here im just gonna weld RE bar to the sub frame rails so then i can weld a big bar on the back so then i can wheelie and not wear out the stock one

not any spares. i have a ac grab bar on my r. i can take any measurements that you need. i think i remember you can use. U bolts and mount a 250r grab on.

or you can just cut it off and AC makes a grab bar that you just drill holes through the frame and bolt it directly to it. i'm sure a lot of others would work to.

Man, that is actually very impressive! You should make those and market/sell them.

Heck I would get one for my wife's 250...hmmmm on the other hand I might scratch my Pro Armor bumper when I hit her from behind for going too slow :-)
