Whats up, as some of you know i have been tryin to sell/trade my 250EX, and one of my dads friends wanted to trade his 1998 KX 250 for it.

I was wondering if anybody had any basic info on this bike with problems, blah blah.

Also, this is my first bike and if there are any tips and tricks of the bike scene.

I do realize a 250 2stroke is a bit big to start out on, but i have a little experience and didnt want to have to trade later on.

Also, do you think i will be able to sit comfortably being about 5'10" 170ish.

Last, what can i do to make it lower, as i feel more comfortable on shorter bikes than taller

Thanks!

Shave the seat down. Make sure that air filter is always clean. Mix your gas right. Be careful. 250s are real real real fast.:chinese:

i think the biggest thing is to know your limit man! that 250 will throw you on your behind if you dont respect it

yeah, youre definitely gonna have to respect it for a while until you get used to it. the kx250 i rode had tons of torque then kind of flattened out up on the top end. ill be getting a kx125 here soon, and it has plenty of power to satisfy me.

your weight and height that bike should be okay. but for a first dirt bike. take it easy get used to the twist throttle. getting a seat that is cut down. but put riding boots on and sit on it. see if you need to do that.

Im deff getting boots and pants before i even sit on it.

I also had a twist on my 400ex before so i can ride them OK.

yep, get all the gear you can before you ride it.lol i believe on my ktm i moved the forks up a 1/2 in. improved corning and lowered the ride height. you can send the suspension out to have cut it down to lower ride height. but moving the forks up. you keep the same travel.

check your linkage bearings. Kawasaki is kinda known for crappy linkage bearings. haha I know first hand after replacing two linkages on my 98 kdx and 2001 kx 125. A new bearing kit would be the best, but if they aren't too bad a good regreasing will be suffice. Other than that they aren't bad bikes. 250's do have a good bit of power, but just take you time and don't be a hero. You'll be fine.
