actually i was riding my 300 with a wb e series and k&n air filter which is close to stock hp and i floored it and i thought to myself "hey this things pretty damn fast" and i ride a 400ex alot. the 300 is okay off the line and has good midrange but the topend is that exciting but come on a stock 282 aint gonna run like a bat out of ****.i suggest the 300 to you over the 250ex, mostly cause it is bigger, more powerful and well if you get into racing it is a great handler, ok i am a good rider and when i was on my 300 i raced a friend on his 400 and beat him by like 4 seconds. if you get a 300 and are slightly dissapointed with the power it has stock as most people including myself are , there a tons and tons of go fast parts for it:D

Superman, here are my opions on the 300 EX.

1) It has enough power to get you into trouble but not enough to get you out.
2) If you get one buy first thing you should do is get a aftermarket header and silencer. It will wake that motor UP!!!
3) Right now with everyone selling there 400 EX's to buy Cannondale's or Z400's you can get a good used one for the price for a new 300, as far as that goes, the way some of the Honda dealers are marking them down you could get a new 400
EX for a good price.
