I got offered a aftermarket CDI box of $35.00 I was wondering if that would be a good idea and i will be finding out what brand it is. He claims it raises RPM level and increases the timing to some where around 6 degrees. Would that be a bad investment? It came off of a 02 400ex and i have a 04 400ex with a DG slip on, jetted with K&N's. Seems from what i have read that the aftermarket CDI boxes really wake up the 400ex is that true? I have also been considering a smaller front sprocket. Where i ride is in sand pits and threw the ditches alot. If any could give me any "performance" pointers and yet still be a reliable machine i would appreciate (sp) alot... Thanks

There are good aftermarket CDIs and there are bad ones. You need to find out what brand it is and research that before you buy it. Serveral make cold starting difficult or starting with a low battery impossible.
