Im gettin ready to start racing mx in a few weeks and I was thinkin about getting new tires for my kfx400. I ride trails alot, and im gonna need a set of tires that will do work on a mx track but also work nice for trail riding. thanks

Ideally it'd be best to have 2 different sets for each type of riding. If that isn't an option right now, I'd suggest Kenda Klaw MX on the rear. If I remember right they measure a little taller than the other 18s, and they're 4 ply so they should be puncture resistant in the trails. Just remember your rear clearance will decrease slightly.

I have never used them, somebody else can chime in. I assumed you wanted 18s for mx, but if you trail ride just as much look for a light weight 20. I didn't like Holeshot XCRs on an mx track.

I ride my 450r through our trails here 49 inches wide with 20's in the front and 18's in the rear. It can be done but its not that fun. the only thing i can suggest to "try" and do both worlds is that ITP makes the mxr4 in 20 inch fronts and 19 inch rears. There for soft loose terrain and rough tracks. Im sure you could ride both with them. Although i dont like ITP.

well right now I'm runnun the mxr6's with 19's in the back and 22's in the front and it sucks. I don't hardly get traction, and my ground clearance sucks, how well do you think the holeshot gncc's would be I saw a guy on here runnin them on a track, but I don't know how well they6d perform I know they work great on trails but how bout an mx track?

I think what you need to do is look at how people in the WORCS racing series setup there machines. They are mx width with taller more aggressive tires for that extra ground clearance. Since worcs races are a combo of mx track and rough/sand terrain. I think that will help you out a ton!

I think GNCC's or I-razors will grab way to much to actually "carve" turns. plus I like the way 18" tires come off the line and out of corners

Regular Razr's are the best all around tire IMO
