I got fly's on my YFZ and i like them. I have also had good luck with protapers. Bend and height are personal preference. On my wife's 400 i put the stock bars off the YFZ on there and i love them

Pro tapers all the way.....I've been abusing them on my bikes for 12 years now and have never had any problems. u can get them from gopartsdirect.com for like 60 buxs, be sure and get an oversize clamp for them. you can get a pro taper one for like 35 buxs.

I run a houser plus 2 stem with 1 1/8 Pro taper atv mid bend bars. I like em alot. so comfortable with the bars raised up 2 inches.

My 450r has a houser plus 2 stem with 1 1/8 Tag T2 450r bend bars that i havent tried out yet.

you can also get the Tag trx450r bend bars in 7/8. also tag makes a bar called the TRX bend. Its specific for honda atvs.

Id have to say Tag and Pro Taper are where its at for bars.

on my dirtbike i had renthal twinwalls and they were great, took many spills and they never got bent or anything

currently on my 400ex i just have stock 450r bars that my friend gave me

those flexx bars are pretty niice too, they take a couple minutes of getting use to and i would definitly get them if i got a deal...

I also recommend Pro Taper. I have been running them on my quad for a couple of years now and rolled it twice with no bending or breaking whatsoever.

Pro Taper SE bars stand for "seven/eighths" so they work with a stock 7/8" clamp

Pro Taper Contour bars require a 1 1/8" oversize bar clamp

x93843 on pro tapers. i only have SE's, but i absolutely love them. my only complaint is that they're way more rigid than the contours which can hurt the wrists on really rough terrain.

My flex bars have taking some extreme beatings, wether its from mutliple tumbles from hill climb mishaps or 3rd gear pinend wipe outs, they are still good to go, take alot of shock out of the bars and are much easier on my wrist. Its a big chunk of change at first but well worth it in the end.

Too funny, I have never used a bar pad in many decades of riding and never had an impact where I needed one. Old habits...

Of course now that you said that I will probably be "wearing "that cross brace embedded in my helmet on my next ride :-(

BTW, don't you know the crossbrace pads were just a marketing gimmic by the handlebar makers to get you to advertise for them for free .

I appreciate the thought. Seriously, this is the first time I have heard a direct story of this happening ever. I am curious, he broke his jaw on one of those skinny aluminum crossbraces mounted with plastic fittings while wearing a full face helmet? Personally I find that hard to believe. I would think it more possible from an impact on the side part of the main handlebar tube. Of course I wasn't there and I don't in any way doubt what you are saying, I just doubt the little crossbar was the main part of the cause of that injury, and again if there was a helmet involved.

Regardless, as I said I do sincerely appreciate the concern, and while I make my own personal choices I do make sure others I am responsible for take all safety measures.

Here is a photo of my wife's CRF and as you can see if does indeed have a crossbrace pad on it...but her face is a heck of a lot prettier than mine anyway :-)

actually it was a stock yfz and he hit the key holder plastic thing. It broke that. I also didn't have a pad for a while becuase I lost it during a xc race but I bought one after that. The mx helmet face shield does nothing for your chin if you come straight down. The dr did say if he didn't have his chin strapped tight it would have been worse. The impact was caused from nose diving off a jump

lol, i ate my crossbar pad recently. i about jumped the triple at Earlywine's on accident. landed on the backside of the landing, and whiplashed into my bars. CROSSBAR PADS WILL HURT YOU STILL!! :blah:

if you have the money defiantly go with flexx bars but if not ive always like the pro tapers or moose flex bars. those are the only 2 brands that i have ever ran and they hold up for me on the track everyday. go with the fat bars too dont fool around with the stock size bars
