me and a couple other guys are thinking of building a quad this summer just for the fun of it and then selling it when we're finished so right now we're just thinking mainly of what engine to use...most preferably a two stroke.

we will probably be using a 250r frame just because we can get a hold of one pretty easily, and then we're thinking of putting a 2-stroke 400 dirtbike engine in it...but we also thought putting a banshee engine in it would be pretty interesting, an incredibly potent engine that was never put into the frame it deserved. but then again there are alot of nice 400-500 4-stroke bikes out there, crotch rocket engines, whatever.

just brainstorming so go ahead and throw things out there, engine - frame combos that are known to work, anything. its our first build so any tips etc....we have all the know how, just want to put together something that will work and that people will actually want to buy.

let me know what you guys would like to see....and rememer it will be on sale afterwards so...mention somethin you'd like and maybe in a couple months you'll get to buy it :D

use a 250r motor an put a cr250 head on it there is a water pump mod you would have to do to make it work right tho

we could maybe get a 250r motor that someone around here has with a cracked case already so...what are the advantages of having the cr250 head?

Don't you need the whole linkege, clutch cover and top end to make this work?? I saw a guy in 3ww that did this, he had to do some serious modding to the clutch cover to make the pv work right.

yeah its a water pump mod theres a guy on www.trx250r.net that did it on a 3 wheeler

how about a XR650R hybrid, or possibly a sled bike:macho

you want a counter balanced motor in it, many have done cr500 conversions and few were ever happy.

Triple cylinder banshee:devil:

Those are sick engines!

But anyways. I say a well-built banshee engine. Porting, exhaust, milled head, etc.
I love banshees.

My second choice would be a quadzilla engine. One that was actually made for a quad.

Third.... hmmm.... DS650 engine. Those rotax engine are sick. Plus i thought is was quick in the DS, nevermind a lightweight 250r!

yea vibration would probably be a little bit of a problem with the cr engine but....it would be pretty cheap to build and, im guessing it would have the power to make up for it to keep a smile on your face.

i think my personal favorite though is a banshee engine, geared and built right i think those twin cylinders have potential...the banshee geometry and ergonomics just suck like no other quad i've ever ridin....haha i'd like to see it in a good frame. plus it'd be pretty bad-a...the two exausts coming out the back of a 250r lol.

im afraid a sled motor would weigh us down pretty bad....but not sure:confused:

i know a few people with 440 Rotax sled motors that are using banshee based drag frames, and running mid 3's in 300ft. now that is FAST!!

lol, yeah those motors can be pricey, but i know where i can get one with carbs, clutch, whole motor is fresh never been ran, and some other stuff for 1000.
