research 525s

getting ready to buy new quad, pretty much narrowed it down to pol. 525s or kfx450r, to me they both have their pros and cons. can you guys give me opinions on the 525s, what you like do not like, so on... best place to get after market parts. i ride desert, mtn trails, fire roads, and some grand prixs. thanks for the help

Power wise will go the the 525 easy, both weigh close to the same, both with reverse. The 525 has a much bigger gas tank for longer desert rides. There are more mods available for the 450, but they have been out much longer. More amd more are coming for the 525. Rath and Lonestar to name a couple. The seat on the 525 is much softer, so your butt will enjoy it. The 450 is like a board. The suspension is also stiffer on the 450. There both good quads, but for the type of rideing you plan on doing, the 525 will put a big smile on your face.

Also the low and mid range power on the 525 are better. 450s are just too high strung IMO. If your not racin MX i would go with somethin bigger. Once you get on a 525 you will fall in love, guranteed!

My partner in crime has the 450r. Very nice machine. It looks race ready. Fuel injection really turned me on. I wish the 525 had it. Hasn't been out all that long but has a decent reputation. It is not the fastest of 450's in a drag race but it was Quad of year and had good showing in some of the other tests.

He is of avg. weight and above avg height, His only complaint so far is high speed woop sections, but we are just begining to dial in the suspension.

If I was between the 2, I may sway my hand to the kfx side only based on price. They both are good companys, both have good tires out of the gate, etc.

On the other hand the 525 motor is well tested and it is a handful.
Add that to the IRS. wink wink

You can't really go wrong either way.

thanks for the help, you guys make alot of good points, i seriously wrote down every detail about both quads and found out the 525s has more things i like. if you can think of any thing else let me know.
