Differance between 06-07 and 080 450r

does anyone know what some of the differances are between the 06/07 amd 08 450's?
i know that for sure the cam and decomp assemblies are way differnt(cam is hollow with a pin in the center to work the decomp. and the decomp is not adjustable).
i know the fuel tanks are way differnt, pet cock hole is differnt as well as all the mounts. does anyone know of anything else?????

The rear and exhaust are the same. I think he was thinking the difference from the 04-05 to 06-08.

The exhaust may be the same. I thought I read that there wasn't as much travel, more or less I don't know, in the rear. But like you, I really haven't read the official changes anywhere, just what people have posted up on some websites. So in all honesty, I don't know....Sorry Dave, I wasn't thinking of those years, I already knew they were different ;)

you might be able to go to honda.com and do a comparison of the two years.

I think the new red and white gas tanks are just covers that slide over the tanks so it may be possible to put a 08 red or white tank cover on a 04-07 gas tank But i'm not for sure yet I can find any service honda sights that have 08 parts yet to confirm part numbers on tanks. Checking part numbers between years is a great way to tell differnt parts for differnt years Honda isnt going to change the parts numbers if the parts are the same

well i know for sure that the tanks are diffrent, and honda changes parts numbers all the time, if the get a part made form a differnt vendor then the previous year, even if the part is the same they use a diffrent #

Can you just buy the tank cover ? and is there enought difference in the tank where the cover wont fit an 04-07 tank ?

Tank is different, cover wont fit 04-07 bikes.

the intake boot traveling from the airbox to the carb is different. the 08 boot does not have the resonator to the left as air enters the intake. I saw this personally on an 08 Performance. the 08 boot is a straight shot.....

shows different parts-- fuel tank ,, cover,,, intake,, etc.

This is confirmed. I just ran out to the garage to check.

Wow Kick start vs Electric
The kickstart has
-more travel in the rear 9.3"
-longer in length
-tiny bit higher
-1" bigger wheelbase
-higher seat
-less ground clearance
-smaller gas tank

and the only difference I see from 2008 to the others is smaller gas tank but a 0.8 gallon reserve.

I have an 05 and an 08 .... The only thing i can say that is different besides the basics that were changed in 06 is im pretty sure the Cam in different , Gas tank is smaller , The tires are different . And as for suspension setups and being longer i put the houser swingarm off of my 05 bike which was same length as stock 06-07 and it was the same length as my 08 stock one. Thats about all i noticed and ive had both bikes completely apart.
