After a complete oil change how much oil are you guys putting in.

I have an 07 400 just did the first oil change since I bought it (bought it brand new in Jan of this year) and put 2 full bottles in but it is still reading low??

I used the Oil from the local Honda dealership....

i BELEAVE its 1.9 liters. to properly read the oil. you need to let it idle for 5 mins. shut it off and wait then check it.for a proper reading :D

Thats how 400ex's are. Mine was like that and you here this question all the time. Where the oil goes idk but its still in the motor doing what it should be doing. My 400ex motor always showed up as to full or as not enough oil. Normaly reads not enough oil.

Keep in mind that this is a dry sump engine, any time you need to check the oil you need to let the engine idle for 5 minutes in warm weather and up to (or at least) 10 minutes in cold weather. It states this in the owners manual. I've never had a issue checking my 05 with this method. Even when I check it dead cold it'll show lower half mark, then when properly warmed up (no blipping the throttle) it'll show full after about 10 minutes. Hope this helps.

It's 1.95 for a change with filter, and without filter something ilke 1.85, and for a complete engine disassembly and rebuild, I believe something like 2.3 goes in.

Thats weird. My operators manual clearly states that when changing oil it takes 2.3 quarts of approved 10w40.

Whenever I change my oil I put in 2.5qts, some of you may not be taking the bolt out under the shifter.
