View Full Version : AC Flow Exhaust. Good or Bad?

I just bought my 2008 400ex. put it to the test last weekend and it did great. I am looking at exhausts now and I need to know which is better performance wise. Sound is not a concern and I am going to do the OEM header mod that is listed on here. The AC Flow is making claims of up to 10.5 HP gains. Seems pretty steep just from exhaust. I am also looking at a Big Gun and a Lexx slip on. Please give me some opinions or even facts on this subject please :(

The AC flow seems like a good muffler, we installed one on an older 400ex this summer, along with a 416 and stage one hotcam. It fit good, and sounded good. Its hard to tell how much power it made without a dyno, especially in our parking lot. It seems like a good deal for the money.

10.5 HP is BS..Most pipes will do about 2-3 horses

I figured as much on the 10.5 hp. Its not even close to being the cheapest either. I like the look and want to make sure it is going to be worth the money

Yeah 10.5HP would be more like with an addition to a 426 or something and a bunch of mods.

One suggestion. I have usually found better results by getting an exhaust from an Exhaust Manufacturer... not a nerf bar company trying to expand their product line. Not picking on AC per se, just I see it all the time and it is becoming more common. You will usually find better results from a company with a narrow focus and who are experts at what they do.

I wouldn't be too interested in nerf bars from FMF, Pro Circuit, Big Gun, Yoshimura or HMF... would you??

Just something to think about before you spend the amount of money that exhaust systems demand.

thx 4 the help guys. I went with the HMF Sport series BLACK CHROME. It comes with free jets and spark arrestor. SHipped and all for 227.00. Thought it was a good deal. Cant w8 2 get it and annoy my neighbors

Cool, that Black Chrome will look great with the white/black bodywork.
