Has this ever been done before? Is it even possible (Lexan? Acrylic?) Am I wrong in thinking that this would look freakin' incredible?

it might look cool on a show bike but as soon as you ride it would look like crap.

What's the difference between a dirty clear quad and a dirty colored quad?

That's sick!! I've always wondered myself why none of these companies have put a set of clear plastics in production?

looks sick when its new... think about when it gets a little used and scratched up. if you rub it at all with dirt on it, it will get scratched to hell and looking like crap id think.

Anyone got the hookup on these clear plastics?

If not, then im going to call Laker tomorrow and see what a set for a 400ex would run (older style).

Aye Laker makes the plastics.

You can also use them to paint a design onto by painting it on the inside.

Very similar to painting the clear plastics of an RC Car/Truck.

If I remember correctly, Laker didn't sell the clear because he couldn't come up with a clear that was durable enough. They are used strickly for show bikes. But that was a while ago, so things may have changed since.

Fullbore had clear 250R plastics about 10 years ago, and just like Laker, they were strictly for show bikes. They used to have a much better, close up photo on their site of them, which showed how 'clear' they really were...it was quite impressive. Like glass almost.

I remember a company (dont remember the name) made some a while back for show bikes (may have been the fullbores) but they were supposed to be for paint, you paint the underside of them any scheme you wanted and it wouldn't scratch off because they were on the bottom, they looked phenominal with custom painting on them. The ones I remember seeing had a mountain dew label on them. Looked bad arse.

I wonder what size of a group buy it would take to make a set of these economically worthwhile?

a couple of guys from neatv, fred johnson and jeff briggs to be exact used thes plastics on their quads. fred had the 250r style on his hybrid and jeff had the older race style on his 400ex and they looked great at first but as it has been mentioned as soon as they started to get scratched up at all they looked like junk because it showed up so much. these plastics are really nothing more than a stand still mod.
