On the '06 and up 450r's, they are running 12:1 compression safely on premium pump gas. My question is, if you install a 13:1 piston in a '04 along with a stage 2 hotcam, the dynamic compression should be lower due to the higher lift/duration of the cam, but would it be enough to run premium pump gas? I know most ppl you see running this set-up, run race fuel or a 50/50 mix but just seeing if anyone has achieved running pump gas.

i dont think you would get away with that, idk maybe you could but its really risky, i would just run 50/50 to be safe, its up to you, if you want to try it, good luck, but its probably not good.

a lot of variables goes into calculating dynamic compression, but generally, using the closing timing of the camshaft you've selected and the static compression ratio of the piston, your looking at roughly 11.5:1....
