I am going to admit not I was a bone head so that you will not do the same thing. In the process of putting on new taller handle bars and had to re-route some of the wiring under the hood. I re-connected everything and turned the key on to test everything. The fuel injection light came on but no pump, lights or anything else. :huh
I hit the starter button a couple of times and the only thing that happened was little pop. (blown fuse). I pull the hood back off and quickly find the problem.

The connector for the lights on the hood is EXACTLY the same as the connector for the start/light switch. I had plugged the start/light switch into the hood lights circuit and vise versa. Here is the important tip. The start/light switch connectors are BLACK and the hood lights connector is WHITE. Just make sure you match up the colors since they will pug into each other and you will be set. The only thing that happened luckily was a blown 30 amp fuse.

I hate to admit I did this but hopefully it helps someone else not do it. :p
