We are taking a family trip to Tin Cup in the Rockies in July with a Brute 750I & a Honda Rancher ES & a little Honda clone 110cc. Being a flatlander in SE Nebraska I am worried how they will run at 10,000 feet. Is there anything I should do up there so I don't hurt the engines. I really don't want to go through the pain to rejet. The Brute had the update on the jets done when it was almost new so it is set up richer than it was from factory.

OLD POST I KNOW! But don't you need more gas at higher elevations?

Just the oppisite, the higher you go in elevation less fuel and more air is required to run your motor. Quads tend to run very rich and bog down at higer elevation with out proper jetting. If you have and EFI quad you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks

What about in the winter when the temp goes below 20? More or less gas?

Not a problem. Our quad, unless you have removed it have a carb heater hose that heats the fuel and carb during the cold winter months.

We were up there for a week with the Brute 750, Honda Rancher 350 & chinese 110 and had no trouble at all. The Brute didn't run bad but low speed was a little sluggish. All in all I'm glad I didn't spend the money to rejet. What a great weeks vacation in a great area!:D

I absolutely love the Tin Cup/St. Elmo area. You know, but to the others. When I bought my 450R brand new it was jetted for sea level. I have run all the way up to 13,800ft with stock jetting. You do lose a little power but it runs fine. It is now jetted correctly.
