In the 300ex owner's manual it says that 10w40 is recommended viscosity for it but i accidently put 10w30 in it, will it run ok for the winter?

The question you should ask yourself, is it formulated for wet-clutch applications ? I am unaware of "any" motorcycle oils that recommend anything lighter than a 10w-40 up to a 20w-50 and sometimes SAE60 (primarily older Harley's ). If you are using a Synthetic Lubricant you can eliminate the confusion over using different lubes in summer and winter; they are more stable in the hotter months of the year and they pump much easier in the winter.

ALL 10w30 oils are energy conserving. I would change it or ur clutch will slip
