A few people had requested for me to take pics of the 08 without the front fenders. I promised to do it the next time I had it that far apart. Did a carb update today and just before I started to put it all back together I remembered the request and grabbed my camera.
Didn't notice until I did it, but it only takes 2 bolts and 3 plastic push pins to remove each fender.
Sure gives new meaning to shaved fenders!

IMO the headlight looks way to big amd it looks too narrow with the fenders gone.

No doubt, but it obviously wasn't designed for this purpose. Just doing a favor for some of the guys, it is all back together now.

With the Amsteel Synthetic rope I think the total was approx 8lbs.
For me, it would take a lot more than larger wings.
I kinda like it like this .....

ya if you take that light out and maybe shave down the corners on the outside so they done stick out so far but it also looks good with the fenders on. nice bike :)

Just got my 08 2 weeks ago. love it! Mines white though. I think they were going for an airplane look. How tough was your handle bar swap? I was thinking of doing mine but not sure if i want to get into it. Also, the OEM cap that houses the nuetral and reverse lights along with the key rattles like crazy when i gas it. Any suggestions to either tighten or remove it?

Cool,... and then there were 2 :-) Post some pics!
Handle bar swap is easy and no different from other 400EXs.
Pull out the gas cap vent tube from that cover and look inside the hole, you wil see a phillips head screw, make sure it is tight.

The Trail Tech Bar Mounts have a new plastic cover similar to the factory one for your Key switch and Neutral/Reverse lights.
On mine I have the Vapor and the optional "Dashboard" that has 4 lights on it. I wired my neautral and reverse lights to it. You can see the "N" and "R" on the left indicators in the photo. If you look closely at the bottom of the pic you can see my key fob and the plugged holes on either side of thr key switch where you normally would put the lights.

THANKS!!
I haven't had a good place to really top it out... and still watch the Vapor at the same time..... yet :-)
It does have the feature where it stores highest speed reached etc, I will check it out when I do some tuning runs in the next few days.

I almost got top speed on my vapor.
I didnt quite max it out, but i was almost there.
I had it at 60.5 with stock gearing and stock size tires. Stock exhaust too.

sounds about right. my 416 hit 72 with a one tooth bigger rear sprocket (lower gearing) and stock front. but i'm more interested in accel then top speed
