I have a 2002 7.3 Ford Excursion, and at random times I will be driving it and it will randomly shut off. It doesnt just happen in the cold so the fuel isnt jelling up. Today it shut off 5 times. I'll just be driving it and it will studder and then eventually just shut off and roll. When I stop it and put it in park again it starts right up. Anybody know what could be wrong with it. If you hate fords and just want to bash them please do not post. Thanks

I don't like Fords....lol but thats beside the point

could it be fuel injectors? or fuel filter?

I have to change my fuel filter on my Duramax pretty regularly.. just an idea

could be the TPS Throtle Position Sensor my brothers had a problem like that only his would just stop moving then it would eventually take off again. If not that I would think it would be something related to the computer.

If it was a crank sensor it would not start back they typicaly do not just start acting up they just quit working

check out powerstroke.org theres a bunch of diesel techs over there that could probably give you an answer pretty quick.

Not neccessarily, they can fizzle before they die

its the cam position sensor and you have about an 85% chance thats what it is. They slowly go bad and will shut the truck off more and more untill it just doesnt start. Ford redid the part and it is like $25 now, it used to be $160 from ford so your lucky. Buy two and put one in your glovebox with a 10 m wrench.

When's the last time the fuel filters were changed? Probably the CPS though...
