Yfz 450 cam mod problem

Hey i have a stock yfz 450 and i heard the cam mod was the thing to do. So I had a buddy that has done the mod before do it to man but my quad wouldnt start. so we had to put the quad back the way it was. any clues y it wont work we only advanced the exhaust cam one tooth.

you were supposed to retard it back one. Soo now you need to move it 2 backwards

i moved it one tooth clockwise and it backfired so i moved it back one tooth counter clockwise y would i need to move it two back

I think he meant that since he advanced it one, he needs to go back 2 teeth because 1 to get to stock and one more to retard 1 tooth
