i had the same problem, found out i didnt use an oversize head gasket, so the piston was hitting the gasket

You may need to remove the advance key. Have you tried running straight race gas aor at least a mix?

Also the HotCam has a different valve lash spec than stock.
.13mm intake
.15mm exhaust

Also running the advance key with some aftermarket cdi's isn't a good idea. Not sure if the Big Gun is one of them.

sounds to me it is pre ignition pre ingition = destruction as said before remove the advance key that will retard the timing and hopefully stop the pinging. that probablly why it broke the piston the first time

You probably need to take your advance timing key out. Also what octane gas are you running?

.15mm exhaust right on this may not solve your problem but one thing for sure is that your engine is running hotter than hell. With the i cat and the degree key your engine is making alot more heat then necessary, i also believe that the degree key isn't recommended for a big bore because of the added heat form a big bore and with the spark enhancing i cat that isn't helping either. What i think is going on is that all the extra heat is making your quad run like it was running lean.
