Just bought an 00 400ex and there was literally no bearing in the left side right side was fine, I bought this bike for 450 so would rather just replace the bearings rather than buy a carrier, bought Pivot Works bearings today for it but dont want to put them in and them be bad again after 5 rides. How do i tell if its ok to rebearing??? Also I was told to heat the carrior in the oven and freeze the bearings and they will fall right in??? Any tips other than this?? thanks Guys!!!!!!!

You heard correctly. I just did my bearings a couple weeks ago. The oven/freezer trick works like a charm.

.... and you can use heat to get the old bearings out aswell. with the carrier in a vice. take and heat up the carrier itself with a propane torch, use a square ended stick of tubing and hammer to knock them out.

if the carrier can still hold a seal fairly snug then you may be ok

I think the carrier is trashed, it has deep cuts throughout it and on the sprocket side is mangled . Whats the cheapest carrier out there that comes complete with bearings and ready to throw in?? Thanks Fellas!

Check Ebay or the "Honda Parts for Sale" forum here on the website. I bet you could get a stock one for less than $50.00 and an aftermarket one for less than $110.00

Here is a site for a carrier and bearings. Real good deal for a billet, and there are 2 stock ones on there, but they are rusty, and this is only 9 bucks more, and a brand new one cost about 130 or so. Good-Luck!
