No problems with our new 2008's. We did have the tranny whine in our 2006's until we switch the oil to Rotella, then no more whine.

ya my 06 does it when you ride it hard but people say its nothing to worry about. i just put more oil in it and it seems to help it a bit

I got mine in feb 06 and it whined for a bit at first but it hasn't done it in well over a year with no issues.

thanks again.

i was nervus about getting it after i heard about the tranny whine cause my kfx the tranny broke. lost reverse and when it revd high it made a grinding noise that was going to be costly to fix so thats why im buying a new quad. then that scared me when i heard about the whinning in the ltr. but sence alot of people say its nothing and it goes awyay by doing little things (like 200ml more oil) fixes it. that made me feel alot better about the quad

My K7 Ltr did the whinning thing about 3 times before the first oil change and then never again. The whinning even occured during the running in period when pulling in the clutch it kept on doing it. I changed the oil after the first 2-3 hours and every 3 hours till I got to 10 hours. Now I change the oil every 10 hours and had no problems on my LTR and no whinning at all.I dont believe in running a full sinthetic oil, rather run a semi-sinthetic oil specifically designed for motorcycles. I use Motul 5200 semi sinthetic 15W50,because in South Africa the temperatures are very high. In a race last week the temperature went up to 47 deg celcius. Good luck with your new LTR-you will love it!!!!!!!

I've run amsoil 20-w50 v twin in mine since break in(Feb, 06). No clutch slipping and my cylinder and cams looked great when I pulled it apart for the first time a few weeks ago. PROPER synthetic oil CAN be used with a wet clutch.
