Hey guys,

I have a '92 banshee that has fmf fattys with powercore2 silencers, boyesen reeds, vitos reed spacer, k/n filter with stock filter box, bored out 020 over with weisco pistons, and an aftermarket radiator grill, like the rpm ones.

After riding it for 5 minuits it starts spewing and you have to let it cool down.

Do you think a cool head would help alot, thanks, Alex

i bet the impeller on your water pump is shot...replace the plastic one with an aluminum one

Yes cool heads would work out good but still since your running that much performance you should get rid of that crappy stock yamaha cooling system and get something good. I never had to get one so im not to sure.:huh

My buddy put on a cool head and it pretty much solved his over heating problems. I have been told that there are better radiators out there also.

an aftermarket radiator would help better than a cool head...coolheads are cheaper though and help performance a lil if u bump compression...you could try the impeller, coolhead and it should work for ya though....if not get the radiator

A cool head will stop the problem,,,its weird how Banshees over heat so easy, especially liquid cooled!!

it could be, because of the age, that the radiator is full of silt from the coolant, they eventually do need cleaning, or it could be that crap stock impeller

coolhead and aluminum impeller should solve your problems. clean the radiator too and inspect all the lines.

Listen up.....

If it is spewuing coolant within 5 minutes it is 1 of 2 things. The impeller is broke or more likely the impeller drive gears are stripped/melted. It is not circulating coolant. Period. There is no other answer outside of something extremely unusual.

A coolhead has absolutely, positively, no effect whatsoever on coolant temperature. I have one and a temp gauge and I know and have tested this. An aluminum impeller DOES help cooling quite a bit.

Fix the impeller issue and while you're in there get a megaflow aluminum impeller and you'll be good to go.
