umm it seemed to give it alittle more bottem end and sound wise it gave it a deeper sound over regular size.

It will give it just a little more bottom end but not a huge difference, and more noise ofcouse.

How long had you ran your HMF before you repacked it? Do you just drill out the rivets on the end cap or do you have to pull both ends to repack it?

I searched around and found this on HMF's website. It was very helpful in answering my questions.

awesome job on it. looks clean too. you'd think it came from the factory like that.

its really not that hard it only took me alittle over an hour. i just drilled all the rivits then slid the inter peace out. then i cut the pipe the size i wanted + i had to cut the inter peace witch was the hardest of it all. then wraped the packin around it and tied it down. slid it back in and and put new rivits in. but i did clean it real good before i put it everything back on

Where did you buy the silencer packing? HMF recommends a packing pillow.

i just went to my local dealer and got fmf 4-stroke packing. some people say u need to use different kinds but really packings packing as long as its 4 stroke and not 2- stroke witch it should say on the bag.

yea packing shouldnt matter its all the same stuff as long as its made for a 4-stroke

A little Scotchbrite and fine grit wet sanding.

but it looks like the factory made it. like ive seen shortys made by people and they have like marks in them and scratches from where they cut it and re riveted it but i guess they just arent as good as you guys are at it :p
