DASA/Joe Byrd Pipe

Here is the Joe Byrd Pipe that is installed on my quad.
This is the same pipe that DASA will be using on all of there race quads.

isnt that extra cartridge looking thing to help lower the dB or what?

I have always seen that on his bike but never known what it is. So what does it do?

it lowers the DB by a couple to make it legal in AMA while not losing HP

The design has to do with reducing sound.
Here is a quote from Dan from another site.....

What little offset there was in the power curve was worth it in the DB loss.

It is all aout fine tuning the exhaust to the DB level you are racing at.

With a year in testing and both on the track and in the dyno room.

We feel we have the best HP 99 db pipe for the guy who is wanting to meet sound requirments on a high HP quad.

There is a big differance in DB from a 50 to a 60 hp quad

Pipes that work good on a 50 hp quad usually fall a little short on performance a 60 hp quad

No BS just race proven tested with results. You will see it on our bike this year again.

Where did you buy yours from? Dasa themselves? And how much is it? I wanna order one asap, just got my bonus for work perfect timing! That pipe looks bad! Was going to get a yoshi, but i've heard good things about Dasa.

the pipe makes the bike 99db, while little to no loss in power! sounds like a win/win situation to me!

edit: also akrapovic is producing a pipe with that expansion area to lower db's and not hurt power

I am working on a simple S/A for the DASA pipe. It will be held in with a snap ring. The current S/A that DASA sells is the Yoshi TEC.
That one does take alot of power away.

I will also have more picture of the pipe with a glass beaded finish.

can you just purchase the front half of the header and use it with the classic version of the Dasa? I just purchased a Classic Race System about 2 weeks ago for my build. I have not even mounted the exhuast yet and I'm already wishin I knew this thing was available. I know I'm going to have alot of trouble passing at alot of the races I run with the Classic version.

why not just buy a rossier and get the Supertrapp endcap and pay a total of of about 450 for a system that is just as good if not better??? and not have a giant tumor sticking off your header???
