i am new to the board and i posted this under maintiance. i believe it should be here.

is there a way to repair a cracked fender without replacing the entire front plastic? i have a 4 inch crack on the shifter side about knee height. i was thinking just a piece of metal on each side with 2 small bolts thru. any other suggestions? is there a way to "weld" plastic?

I drill holes on both sides of the crack then run zip ties through them. It works but it ain't pretty. Sometimes you can match the zipties to the plastic and it looks better.

Make sure you drill a hole at the end of the crack so it wont get bigger.
Then, drill holes on both sides and zip tie them.

Stitching works good. I used to do it on my quads havent had to fix plastics for awhile now (knock on wood lol)

Awhile back when i first started stuntriding streetbikes i was going through plastics like crazy and the uppers arent cheap lol. I stitched a few of them then found this stuff at autozone plastic fusion or plastic weld i think its called. Its an epoxy in 2 tubes you mix together. Scuff the plastics up on each side of the crack and spread this over it. Tuff as nails

Ive stitched, fiberglassed, bondo lol u name it. The best ive found is that fusion or solder iron and melt the plastic together (ive never came out w/ a decent look that way though

Hey, I have a better solution to having someone charge you $60 to get a small crack fixed. I got a new plastic welder comin in the mail with 50 rods and the welder was 30 and the rods were 6. Here's the link... http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=41592
Cheap shipping. I also got 6' loading ramps metal for $40. and the shipping was $8 in box. 48lbs haha. www.harborfreight.com any tools or ramps or whatever you need, they have it for great prices.
