I cant get a spark out of my spark plug wire. i am doing a complete rebuild and just got it back together and cna't figure out what is wrong. what is there that has to be grounded to the frame? coil? ignition box? battery cable...what else. what else could the problem be? it was firing fine before. would something have gone bad for no reason? thanks
Dan

btw the frame has been painted do i need to trake a wire brush to the contact points?

are you getting any power? is it turning over? i had the same problem after i painted my frame. if you're not getting any power, try doing exactly what you said- wire brush the contact point where your battery ground connects to.

i checked all the ground places and cleaned all the conections. i have one plug left with nothing to plug it into. it is right above the battery and is a small light green wire. any ideas? it is turning on and the lights come on and all that but there is no spark. CDI bix, or the coil pak?
thanks guys...going back out to work on it some more

you're most likely just overlooking the other half of that wire. look around, because everything is color coded. should be an easy fix. :)

the green wire is just the light for the tail light. I have cleaned all the grounds including the one from the engine to the frame. i have came to the conlusion that it is either the stator or it is the CDI box. any suggestions? anyone have a CDI and/or a stator for me to try so i can fix my problem? my next thought is taking a test light to the wires coming from that stator to see if thats the problem and i am not sure how to test the CDI because there are so many wires coming from it...i have no clue which one is the spark wire. i appreciate the help so far, hopefully we can figure this out.

would i be able to tell if the stator is working with a test light? is there any way to test the CDI box?
