Ok, im a noob when comes to suspension. Does having longtravle a-arms mean they are wider or can they be stock length or shorter?

I have an outlaw 450 and want to set it up for cross country but dont want to go any wider since the factory a-arm are 47 in wide.

long travel a arms means the shock itself is longer, and the a arms is wider. you can get standard travel a arms that are wider but still run the stock length shocks.

Long travel just means that the mounting point for the shock at the a-arm is further outwards towards the wheel than with a standard travel setup. All this does is allow for a longer shock to be used. So you could have 2 sets of +1 arms both the same width, but one could be LT and the other could be ST. Hope that answered your question...
