as most of you have seen on the open forums i am a paraplegic due a knarly digger on my old 300ex... i knew before i got hurt i wanted a 450. after sellign my 300ex i bought an 05 like new yfz 450 and well since my legs are useless now lol i had to adapt it for my needs. it came with a white bros e2 pipe ac racing bumper and pro peg nerfs with heal guards, bling star grab bar, renthal bars, mild porting, new piston, and crank.

heres what it looked like when i bought it

1st off the seats on most sport quads are too hard and too thin for my butt...since i can't stand up i need something that will prevent pressure sores so apple auto glass in halifax hooked me up with a custom seat thats thicker than stock with medium soft foam and a hump on back

well after looking on different paraplegic sites i noticed one guy ran knee blocks on his 700 raptor to keep his kness from banging off the gas tank, so apple auto glass hooked me up the kneed blocks as well

since i am a firm beliver in handguards and now where i am disabled this is a must so i run the powermadd star series handguards with extensions for extra protection and yes they have saved my hands from roost
http://i1.piczo.com/view/5/l/7/y/p/2/o/j/n/3/d/img/i234127822_57343.jpg

well after watching my hero ricky james on his dirtbike i was trying to figure out how did he use his rear brakes... thanks to rekluse they make a z start rear brake conversion so i can use the rear brake with my left hand it also come swith a shorty clutch lever
http://i1.piczo.com/view/5/l/7/y/p/2/o/j/n/3/d/img/i249188632_39973.jpg

to make riding easier for me and allow me to focus more on going fast, i also decided to geta rekluse z-start clutch and as you see with the clutch my mechanic made a custom heat shield, because the stock one is too small for us paraplegics. and trust me it works no burnt legs yet
http://i1.piczo.com/view/5/l/7/y/p/2/o/j/n/3/d/img/i257672920_74842.jpg

now for the almight question how do i shift? well i was wondering the same thing when i seen ricky james ride.. he uses an electric shifter so i enlisted into a pingel electric shifter... we have dialed it in as best as we can but since it's made for drag racing it tends to crap out if you do full throttle shifts so you have to stop and hold a button down for 10 seconds so we are goin to add a small jockey shifter to it so i don't have to pull over to deal with the issue

http://i1.piczo.com/view/5/l/7/y/p/2/o/j/n/3/d/img/i249188634_72367.jpg

after everything was done heres the end result

this winter i am adding a rpm d2 axle, checkin the rekluse and top end over, out snow board bindings on the nerfs, because bungee straps can be a pain in the arse to keep my feet straight with. get some stuff from twin air and streamline. i am also waiting on flexx bars. other than just regular maitence stuff... sorry for the long post

Awesome man. Post more pics of you riding when you get some. That's some damn good inspiration for other people with similar injuries.

wow, props to you my friend.. its amazing seeing someone in your situation with such a passion for a sport that they will stop at nothing to stick with it...and as your seat cover says..."never give up!"

Thank you for sharing.

Your setup looks pretty good. A couple thoughts for you for next season. Possibly look into moving the battery and anything you can forward including a +1 forward steering stem. Also some benefit might come from sloping your seat so you set forward more, maybe one or two inches higher in the back. Doing this would make the quad fly a bit more level and make the landings a lot softer.

i have rox speed fx block risers which raise it 3/4s-1 inch just waitin for the flexx bars, i am planing on tuning the suspension, i feel comfortable on the yfz, i just have to work on not goosing it as much. i am on a budget, so i have to buy one thing at a time.
