Me and my bro just picked up a LTZ400 it has a Yoshi full exhaust on it and that is all that i know of performance wise, we started it up when we got home and all of about 4 minutes of riding the headpipe was glowing red.... This was right after bringing it home 3 hours in the back of a truck where it was probably -10 degrees and then starting her up at like 10pm and seeing that after about 4 mins...... Anyone got any suggestions? Dont know if that is good or bad? or if i need to have something done? any info would be great !!!! Thanks

you are running lean. Turn the fuel screw out to about 2.5 to 3 turns on the bottom of the carb. It might be under a brass plug that needs to be removed.

is this going to hurt it anything if i do leave it like this for a little while? I am fourwheeler illiterate so i am gonna have to take it to a shop...cause i am clueless on how to take it carb off...

It was dark out when i saw it, and it was red enough for me to say holy **** tom look at that.... i would say pretty red and the thing is it was only ridin for like 4 to 5 minutes....it was pretty cool looking to be honest... But i am just not sure on what is going on there

as it has a full Yoshi exhaust on it, it has been jetted and if your
only seeing it in the dark its not really that big of a deal.
it can be cooled down by turning the fuel screw out a touch, the screw is located on the bottom of the carb ,rather hard to get to
if ya dont have the proper tool ,other wise ya have to almost remove the carb to get to it and if for some reason the soft plug
was not removed ,yeah the carb will have to be removed from the quad .
do you know what the jets are in it ? does it have a adjustable needle ?
maybe you can contact the previous owner to find out .

If it was dark out of coarse you will see it glow especially on and idle. I talked to a atv macanic manager at a suzuki dealership he has done some pisten work on mine and i have a 440 kit and he said its normal for it to glow on an idle he said that most 450's can only idle for like 30 sec. befor the pipe starts to glow. Not saying the air to fuel isent off but i wouldnt worry to much about it

It's not normal.. My guess is either you have an intake leak or the carb wasn't jetted for the Yoshi pipe. Pull the plug and hope you don't see metal deposits on it. Don't run it again until you get it to someone that knows what they're doing. Best of luck. Ken
