Does anyone know of a place that sells pilot jets without having to buy a whole kit? I took the choke out of my carb and is hard to start when its cold and i heard a bigger pilot jet like a 40 or 42 will solve my problem. My quad is a 400ex stock, any help will b apreciated

You can always hit up your local honda shop, that is where I get mine now...

Just about any dealer should have them, many machines run these jets. If you don't want to wait call around until you find one. I found my last one at a Polaris dealer. There are two different styles of Keihin pilot jets, series 21 and 22 so take your old one to compare.

HA! Yeah, for the most part I get some puzzled looks, but once and a while I'll get someone that understands what I'm talking about or looking for...;)

X2 on this, I didn't know that there were different styles until I took my old one in too. You'll see the difference in length.

Just give them the parts numbers, surely they can handle that :-)

BTW, here is a cheater trick to get the Honda part numbers for the jets.

For the slow jet just change the last 3 digits to the size you want.

400EX Stock part number JET, SLOW (#38) 99103-420-0380

For a 40 jet change the last 3 digits to 400, for a 42 change it to 420, etc.

For the main jets change the first 3 numbers in the last group of 4 numbers

400EX stock part number JET, MAIN (#148) 99113-GHB-1480

Change the "1480" to "1580" or "1550" etc, etc.

Hate to tell you this but there are 7 or more different styles of kehine pilot jets.

I gottcha. Yeah, A dealer wont stock much. My honda dealer says they cant get me different size jets. Kinda stupid if you ask me. SInce day one ive had to order jets from somewhere else.

does that shop work on bikes at all? I can't see a shop not having jets if they work on bikes.

Anyway... I get mine from c&d or jetsrus. both have got the orders right the 1st time. Good luck.

They work on them, but for some reason they tell me they cant get any other jets than stock. Now im sure if I took it up there for them to jet they would have no problem finding them.

a dealer by me said they can't alter the emissions in any way.

i will make sure i wont go there.lol but the dealers dont care because there not making money. they always tell me that. everytime i order jets. to me if they dont want to help with a simple thing why give them your money. but we only have one bs... honda shop in our area.
