Are you sure it was the fuel screw? it sounds like you turned the float bowl drain.
The fuel screw is really hard to get to, its in the very back of the carb. the screw on the bottom of the bowl is the drain.

That sounds like the drain for the float bowl tighten up the screw on the side of the bowl.

You did exactly what they said. You can't see the air/fuel screw without a mirror. It is on the bottom of the carb, recessed up in a whole, pointing down. You need a mirror and a 90 degree flat screwdriver. They also make a special tool for that. Good Luck

the easiest way to get to your fuel screw is to turn your carb sideways and if its a stock carb, it is the screw circled in the pic below

Turning it out will help.

The first 6 or 8 inches of your pipe will glow red that is normal. You shouldn't be able to see it during the day, only at night when it is sitting at an idle.

Agree'd

Though if its glowing really extreme, richening you A/F screw and pilot will help it.

well do you have a filter kit as well? and are you getting a lot of popping? i jumped my slow to a 52 and my main to a 195 with 2.5 turns out on a/f screw and it runs great. The first 2 inches of pipe glow red at idle, no popping, no more flames, just runs perfect. I am running the CS exhaust as well.
