Break in followed exactly?

I Just received my DS450x and was reading about the break in period. Did everyone follow the 10hr instructions? This just seemed a little long to me.

Someone was telling me that the YFZ450 had a similair recommendation but in reality if you just run a tank of gas and run the engine to heat up and cool down a few times, then change the oil its ready to go.

The OEM recommendation is probably conservative, but it is highly unlikely that following what CanAm says to do will hurt anything.

That said, I think everyone has their own opinion about breaking in engines. Some of the opinions out there have no good science or evidence to support them, so be careful who you listen to...including me.

Take it to a local motocross (best way to vary the power and keep it cool while breaking in) run several conservative laps and let cool. Do this for an hour and then run it hard!
Make sure to change the oil and filter after 4 hrs!
