Ford would be wise to pick up the cummins engine in there diesel trucks. Mercedes makes one hell of a diesel engine for bigrigs. And im sure the one in the truck will be amazing as well.

Opppssss nevermind my dad just told me that chrysler has exclusive rights to cummins still and they wont let ford buy cummins engines for there trucks. So what is ford gonna do for an engine?

Where are you getting your info? I have not seen anything other speculation and rumors on any of the diesel sites.

Ford has had a partnership with CAT in the past for engine development, but so has GM, its all just rumors.

Ford IS developing their own engines in house as is GM.

GM has announced 4.5 liter Duramax that will be produced in their Tonnawonda engine plant for a Q4 2009 release. Ford has not made such announcements

Hah funny that would suck Komatsu machinery engines suck balls.

And ford owns volvo car company. So it wouldnt shock me lol. The volvo machinery is a diff company with diff owners but same name and symbol. I dunno how that deal works either.

Mercedes engines SUCK.. :chinese:

Our Sterling transport has a Mercedes in it and that engine is nothing but problems at 150,000km. Kept blowing fuel lines and now theres a problem with the exhaust gas recycling (I'm not really sure?) and it will be an almost $5000 bill.

Ford is going to attempt to build the diesel in house. The F-150 is scheduled for 2010 .... taken from F150online - "Diesel and EcoBoost gas turbo direct injection engines are planned for F-150 in 2010 as well"

Also Ford already has some cummins motors in their trucks...
