I just had my motor done by hetrick racing. 12:1 cp pison, web 937 cam, oversized valves, kw springs, fcr carb and I am running a hmf natalie exhaust. I run mostly xc gncc with at times tons of mud and a some large puddles small streams. I dont know what set up to use as far as intake airbox. I know that the stock airbox chokes the motor and I need to let it breath but what is the safest set up with most power. I was looking at the fuel customs and dasa set ups and there is also a company on ebay cfm that uses an aluminum airbox with a 250r filter. Alot of guys are saying run no lid with a k&n with an outerwear. Can someone shed some light on this for me? THanks in advance

I run the K+N with the outerwear with no lid and have never had any problems. I dont race but I ride muddy trails at least a couple times a month. On the 04 I used to have I used the same set-up with a Pro-tec lid. It has a real fine screen for a lid that gives you the advantage of no lid but keeps the mud out!!

u can try the hrc style lid. the mud wont hit your filter.

I race cross country all the time and I run a twin air with the HRC half lid and have never had a bit of trouble out of it.... never even a splutter thus far...

I have a uni filter and a home made EHS style lid.

UNI filter with EHS Racing lid. Works great. I would stick with a foam filter over a K&N type any day
