a lightning, ha

anyway, I wouldnt get a body kit. Buy some gmc sonoma wheels for it (the sweet lookin ones), drop it 2/4. Put in a nice grille, tint window, clear corners and if ya got any $ left some euro tails
anyway, thats just me...

S-10's are VERY easy to mod, and there nice trucks, but their 4 cylinders (the 4.3 V6 is very nice!) are on the weak side.

I cant wait to start on my truck, I've only done lil things to it so far (grille, clear corners, HID bulbs, antenna, ect).
I'm gona drop it 2/6 on 20's

pick up an issue of hot rod and get a back issue. they just did this awesome build up of the 4.3 v6 , heads, cam, intake, made 300hp and like high 300s ft lbs and then they put a vortech blower on it and got 500hp, its insane

most s10 are nice i would stay away from the exteme it will make your isurance a whole lot higher,

you have a good plan fix a regular s10 up and then put the body kit you wont on their, also get the v6 the 4cylinder sucks or less you get the 5 speed but if i were you i would highly get teh v6

After selling s-10's for a while I would recomend buying something else. They don't hold thier value and break alot. Toyota, Nisson, or ford would be better.

Umm, S10s dont break alot. They are actually really reliable. I know lots of people with real old S10s with 100,000+ miles and are still reliable. If your wanting something other than a fullsize I would reccomend a S10, Toyota, or Ranger. They are all decent vehicles. They are right, either get a V6 or get a 4 banger and dro in a 350.

lightnings are fast but they should be...

but to see that big block hi tech motor get beat down by a lil turbo v6...in an all wheel drive truck...its just great..lol

I would definitely recommend getting an s10. I just bought a '94 4WD S10 last week and I LOVE it. The dealer I bought it from didn't know for sure if it was the ZR2 package but we think it is. It has the 2" body lift, bilstein shocks, 30"x9.50 tires (yes, i plan on going bigger!), and the 4.3L v6 vortec engine in it. Stock its about 190 to 195hp and we already have plans for a power chip, exhaust, and a k&n air filter...not to mention a few more goodies down the road.
A sonoma would be a better truck than an s10 because GM's do tend to hold their value better, but they are basically the same truck. Don't ever rule out a good toyota or nissan, they are very reliable trucks.
Good luck, and happy truck shopping!!

how do you figure a cyclone will smoke a lightning. a stock cyclone only runs like a 14.5 quarter. a lightnin will run next to a c5 vette.

In a full 1/4 mile, stock vs. stock the Lightning would most likely win. In a stoplight to stoplight race the Lightning would get destroyed.

fastest time by a syclone stock....13.06 at over 100mph

have you ever seen or driven one...they are about the hardest launching vehicle of all time...

they are faster than some ferraris... the 348ts has no chance....

we had production number 896 and it needed nothing...

the lightning might take it top speed..but in a drag...no chance..

ive heard of some syclones and typhoons with aftermarket chips that only disable the speed limiter..can hit in excess of 150 mph..

Don't take my word for it, checck Consumer Reports. They will tell you toyota and Nissan are the best then Ford. Chevy s-10 and Dodge are the worst. I sold cars for a few years at a chevy dealership so I might have a little better info than the 15 year olds that are trying to give you advice. just my 2 cents. Good luck

I'm not just some 15 year old trying to push a chevy on the kid. I may be a girl but I was just putting my 2cents in on what I thought of the S10 that I own. They are good trucks and mine has over 100,000 miles on it and runs stronger than most toyotas or nissans. I'm not saying that toyotas and nissans aren't good pickups, they're excellent trucks and run forever, but chevys aren't that bad either. My boyfriend's parents own a GM dealership and none of them have ever had a problem with their vehicles.

I wasn't denying that Toyota and Nissan arent the best. I was just stating that S10 seem to hold up well and not break down that often. As for resale, they don't have that great of resale. Thats why I got mine, cause it wasnt that expensive like the same year toyota and nissan trucks. Since he is looking for a used vehicle, I would still reccomend a S10 or Ranger since the Toyotas and Nissans would be a lot more $$ for the years that he is lookin at.

S-10 are awsome!!! I have a 95 S10 with the ZR2 package and its a sweet truck. Its got the 4.3 HO that puts out right around 200hp. When i got it the front was stove up cause it was in an accident (i only paid 3k for it) and me and my dad rebuilt the front end. we only put another 1500 into it when we rebuilt it. Its got 83k miles and the thing runs super, i love it. I am getting flowmaster 40 series dual exhaust on it this week and i just got some clear altezzas and it looks sweet. Chevys are a tough truck and i wouldnt own anything but:D

Although they are the same thing, sonomas do hold their value more than the s10's for some strange reason  . They aren't the fastest or strongest trucks out there by any means but they are good reliable trucks. I would recommend them to anyone looking for small sized truck.

Here's a picture of mine.. mod300ex I PMed you

My work truck was a 98 S10 with the 4.3 V6 vortec in it. We put that thing through **** and it would not break. I'm sure you guys know what happens to work trucks that you don't pay for. Now we have a 2003 and it is the same exact design as the 98. They are nice trucks and hold up very well. As for resale I would not know about that.

My S-10 is an 88', I bought it with 107,??? miles on it. It don't burn oil and runs awesome. Good cosidering I have an 80 mile round trip every day.

My dad used to have a nissan, it was the most gutless POS ever.

There are good and bad trucks of every brand. What I am saying is that it pays to do reasearch on every brand to see how they hold up, frequence of repairs, repair cost and resale value. The best way to do this is consumer reports and jd powers. Check the bluebook values on used ones to see how they hold there value. I sold chevy trucks for a couple of years and had a chance to see alot of used trucks that were traded in. Let me tell you they didn't hold up very well and had very low trade in value. Sure there are chevy trucks that go 200,000 miles without problems, but most don't. The facts say toyota and nissan are better trucks. They also cost more. I wish as a American we did a better job, thats why this time after three toyota's I bought a Ford ranger. But only after doing alot of research. My advice is spend your money wisely and keep in mind the cost of repairs. In couple of years you want it to be worth more than you owe. Good luck:)

That's a nice truck Blysster! I have a '97 s-10 step-side zq8 w/ the 4.3, 5 speed, dropped an extra 3 inches all around, clear corners and tails and I love it! I made my own cold air intake and bought a hypertech programmer for it, although it's about time for a new clutch I've out ran Celicas and V-6 Mustangs w/ the 300 in the back! :devil Plus I think the S-10s and Sonomas ride alot better than the other trucks just my $.02! :D Plus the modifications are pretty much endless and inexpensive for the S-10 and Sonoma as compared to others!

Sorry for the long post just wanted to share my truck bio! :blah

sorry but the lightnings faster than the cyclone

ESR250R
11-21-2002, 10:50 PM
ya lightning are faster than a Syclone/typhoon. my fathers lightning runs a 13.6 stock and the fastest syclone ive ever seen or heard of ran a 14.1

Castor-426ex
11-21-2002, 11:17 PM
ok im not gonna argue about it...but i have seen it first hand...oh well..

airheadedduner
11-22-2002, 12:15 AM
I think what castor means is if you line up a lightning and a typhon/syclone side by side for a typical street race the syclone will take it in a short run. Its AWD so it gets awesome hole shots. Overall the lightning kills it in top speed though. There is no point in argueing, cause I can't stand MOST fords so I am brand biased in this one.

Castor-426ex
11-22-2002, 12:27 AM
lmfao thanks man...thats what i mean...in a top speed race the lightning should take it...but let someone put a lil $$ in that gmc...and there will be ford lightning *** smeared all over the pavement:D

Hey Fast-n-Furious, What size tires are on your S10? I have 30" on my '94 S10 and they look small with the 2" lift and fender flares. Does anyone know how big I might be able to go without rubbing too bad? I think 32" would be pushing it, but if I got a wider tire, say 11.50s it might help the appearance.

ESR250R
11-22-2002, 06:04 AM
ya but give a lightning perfect traction and watch out. i have seen completely stock lightning that had slicks on the back run a 12.9. i am a gm fan as well but the lightnings are just bad *****.

ThorChick- The tires on my truck are 31-10.5-15 in size. You can go with 32s but they will rub a little when your wheel is cut all the way to one side. The front of my truck didn't look like it sat up very high when i first got it and then i cranked on the torsion bars and it leveled right out. ZR2s are sweet trucks though :devil
