250R reed cage problem!!

After listening to several so called 250R experts I bought a 2000 CR 250 reed cage for my 89 250R and it will not fit. The cage itself is to large. Anybody got a idea why this will not fit. Am I doing something wrong? Please help!! Thanks,MIKE

I am not 100% sure, but I believe you need to 1996 CR250 reed cage. When you say it doesnt fit, do you mean in the cylinder? or doesnt reach the carb? Do you have pics??

the 1998 works (thats what I have), Im not sure if the 1996 works

just send it back, and ask for the right year.
