I dont even care for rap and at least Rollie is on the right track to rap music with meaning about real issues and music with substance. I can tell this thread was started and carried on by a bunch of ahem "children". The best thing anyone can do when it comes to music is turn off the radio turn off mtv and go find music for yourself. anything youll ever hear on the radio/tv is pop crap big time record labels and producers are forcing you to like. No matter what the type of music it is. One more rap group with substance not listed yet....

Also, as for the Hardcore/Screamo/Death Metal crap... I listen to a bit of everything for sure and can stand some of the stuff that isn't TOO HARDCORE. I hate listening to songs where you can't even hear what they are saying because they are just screaming into the mic the whole time, then you look up the lyrics and try and follow along but it still doesn't make out right.....

I can deal with/like songs that go back and forth on the screaming.

No one listed Notorious BIG yet? He was was right behind Nas on lyrical genius.

2pac had some good stuff, he was more political than any other rapper I have ever heard of though.

Ludacris' older stuff was GREAT. The first 2 cd's are in my top 10.

Other than that I can't really think of anyone else.

everyone always emphasizes the how good they are lyrically, nas is the exception he can make good MUSIC with the lyrical content of a oldschool mc, but the 3 greats that stand out when i think rap are biggy, tu pac, and 50, they all brought there own style, and you could pull 4 or 5 hits off of any of there cd's, i personally dont like listening to noise,whether is be metal, rap or country, and alot of rap is noise or just generic, same with any music and most rappers are just repeating whats already been done or ranting off some horrid freestyle i dont even want to hear, big, pac and 50, i can listen to there music over and over, good stuff

like i said some rappers make music sell millions of records worldwide , biggie, pac and 50,/ some rant to a beat and get props from some hardcore rap listeners and sell 200,000 records, the way i look at it, im sure if 50 dedicated him self to doing what jadakiss does or whomever, hed be the best, but hes a very intelligent individual and wanted to make hits, theres gotta be a sacrifice of one for the other, nas he made good records but couldnt touch the audience 50 could, thats a gift, dont knock his talent, no one in the game today has what he has

i think pac was crazy, he saw what was going on and put himself in it, to expirience it, it wasnt him but he was so passionate and dedicated to his music he put himself in the middle of gang beefs and lots of other things just to fuel his creativity, hes a true artist

pac was good, but I dont see him as the best. Nas is better lyrical, and Biggie had a better flow. Thats just my IMO though.

so...what do you like? lol. i dont listen to much rap, not because i dont like rap in general but because so much of it is just retarded, like "hey bay bay" and "soulja boy" everytime i hear those songs i wanna rip my ears off!!! but the rapper that i pretty much like every song would be t.i. does anybody else bump to t.i.?? lol. also, u guys will prolly totally disagree with me, but i think eminem was one of the most talented rappers ever, he can do so many different styles whether its a serious song, funny song or whaterever else he decides to sing
