Ok, i was just wondering what you guys thought about a 2003 400ex and a 2004 ltz400. Which one do you think is better for just woods riding and having fun around the yard is? And what does the not so good one need to be as good as the other one.

one is not better then the other. where one lacks, the other picks up. this thread has been covered probably over a million times and will probably get deleted. but when it comes down to it, it's all in PERSONAL PREFERENCE.

like said above. it's all personal preference. i personally like the way the 400ex handles alot better. the Z has always felt kinda "tippy" to me. the 400ex seems like it wants to stick to the ground alot better even though the Z is about an inch wider. in a drag race, the Z will win, but IMO the 400ex easily matches the Z in low end tourqe and thats really all you need for trails and stuff, chances are you will never see top speed on the trails.

As its been stated one million times before, and as I'll state it again....

It doesnt matter about the quad. It all comes down to the rider, thier preference and thier skill level.

All the Z's have reverse and are liquid cooled. The older 400ex's dont have reverse where the newer ones do. The 400ex is still air cooled.

The 400ex handles better and has a stronger frame than the z400.

Its all in your preference and the depth of your pockets.

Pick a brand and color. They really arent all that different. Suzuki somewhat designed the Z after the 400ex anyways.:ermm:

Go for the z-400, I have one that is modified & I love it! The ex is a great reliable quad also. If you're planning on doing some mods I think you can get a lot improvements from the z. Either way you go both quads are great machines. :p

sit on them both, and see whats more comfortable for you, it all comes down to what you feel better on, you could have the fastest quad in the world, but be slow as hell on it if you dont feel comfortable. in general, the Z is a bit more high tech, liquid cooling etc.... the 400EX while its a bit more simple technology wise, its reliabilty is excelent and it handles great! Good luck man, but both are great sport quads.

I rode both a while back, and the z400 seems like you sit WAY higher. The 400ex is also a lot more comfortable IMO.

A lot less to deal with also, 400ex is an awesome machine to just bust out and ride whenever you want. No liquid cooling or any of that to deal with.
