In order to remove the crank do i have to split the case? Or is there a different way? The motor locked up and was impossible to kick so i took the head off and looked down and i am almost certain it is the rod bearings, so i'm looking for the easiest way to remove and replace. Also, rockymountainatv has just a hot rod HD rod and bearing kit instead of the whole assembly, can i use this with oem crank? Is there a better place to buy this. it was 120 so it didnt seem that bad in price. Thanks in advance

You 100% have to split the cases to get the crank out.

With all the metal loose in there you are going to have to tear everything down and clean out the shavings and inspect EVERYTHING.
Most likely going to end up replacing every bearing in the bottom end anyway. Its the best thing to do once something like this happens, esp if the bike as a lot of hours already.

EDIT: Your sig says u have a 400ex, but this is the 450r section. What kinda bike is it?
