well it was -45*C this morning and i went to start my car (plugged in for 2 hours) and it didnt start. So i opened the hood to listen for the block heater and i couldnt hear it going. the extension cord and everything work good so it has to either be the heater cord or the block heater on my car. Im just wondering if they are somewhat easy to replace or its a PITA. Its a 2003 Chevy Cavalier.

They are relatively simple to replace for a mechanic.

Most block heaters simply replace one of your factory freeze plugs in your engine block. Replacing it requires you to drain the coolant and probably a car lift depending on its location.

One of those things that would be easier to have a mechanic replace than to do yourself....at least IMO
