Do I need a normally open or closed tether kill switch on my 92 250X?

norm closed if you go from coil to ground...

make sure you put the coil wire on the correct side

that is not correct. you will nedd a normally open if you go from coil to ground as most people. normally open means the switch is open with the tether cord plugged in. pull the tether cord and the switch closes grounding out the coil and killing the motor. find the wire that goes on the positive side of the coil. splice one of the kill switch wires into it. find a good frame ground and attach the other wire from the kill switch there.
