I have a 01' 300ex and its got good power but honda didnt make them very fast. The sprokets on it have 5 rides same with the chain... its got the stock amount of teeth (13-38) on it now. and i want more speed. i have found a 14t front on rockymountianatv.com but i am wondering if tht will fit with the chain i just got tht works with the stock sprokets.. And i was looking to drop a tooth in the rear. but i only found like a 37th for a ktm (atv i asume) does any one know where to get sprokets and if the chain would fit?

thanks

P.S. I will only use steel sprokets

if you drop a tooth in the back and add a tooth up front it will take the same length chain. but if u just add a tooth up front(14) it might work if your chain tensioner is all the way tightened and chain is with your stock gearing is still some what loose. if not just add a link by adding another master link and the inside link peice, or maybe even just a half link

i think adjusting the chain tensioner would give you plenty for the bigger sprocket... especially since chains tend to stretch a little...

Depending on what size of rear tires you have on your 300ex 14/36 might not even rev out enough to give you more topend. I run 14/36 gearing with way more mods then yours and it just cuts it with 18in fast trekkers. It revs all the way out, but I got alil more motor then in your sig. just my 2 cents.

in your sig. you dont have any tires so im guessing you have stock ones. I doubt it will pull 14/36 with 22" tires with your mods. Try dropping a few teeth in the back and leave the front alone.

Are they 20" or 22"? Either way the HDs are very heavy for a 300

Hey, these is the best setup I've ever used and it's an excellant deal. It's $66 for a front and rear sprocket STEEL (best way to go) and an awesome, good looking chain, Gold plated 8120 Pound tensile stregnth (NOT A TYPO) any of it. It's 66 with the awesome xring chain. You would want to spray it with wd-40 when u first get it then use anoter chain lube after first ride. It's a rockymountainatv the link is http://www.rockymountainatv.com/productDetail.do?navType=type&navTitle=Drive&webTypeId=123&webCatId=9&prodFamilyId=2218#vehicleSelect
that's for the exact one for yours. and the best part is is that if you don't have to take the axle out or the sprocket hub. Also I noticed that the newer 300's are smaller, like the 04's so these might not be the best ones if you have the 18" tires. But they work great on mine and I run on 18's 20's 21's 22's and 25's with them and it wheelies all of them. The 18's are slow though. So u may just need bigger tires.

holy crap 25" thts insane but how often do your tires make contact with your plasitics with 25s?

John451

Haha, not too often until i fell on the plastic and put an 18" crack, Now it bounces off the tire every time i hit a big bump. But before that, almost never. It used to hit my foot every once in a while but not too badly. Gettin nerf bars and new fender. Paintin it all black, cuttin fronts.

I end up swappin them like every weekend cuz of the weather changes and having 22 tires. Haha. Don't know when that happened. :\
