whats the pros and cons of an aftermarket c.d.i. box i see they all say advances timing, and 1,000 more rpm rev. will this affect the reliablity of my quad in anyway?

Good question, thinking that myself, along with the Fat coil and the 6 degree advance key.
TIA!

it may affect how your quad starts. make sure to have a fully charged battery.

yeepp some say that it makes the quad hard to start. but other say that they have been pleased with them... its suposed to raise rpm's, give a hotter spark, and advance the timing..

I got one from RMstator and it does everything it says. I didnt notice a problem with starting and it does make noticable power. Response is what i noticed most though.

i think there was a thread about the amr rev box and the coil to go along with it and there were great reviews on that one...

I went with AMR Racing for both the REV Box and Monster Coil. Just installed them both. No complaints yet.

Did you see/feel any difference? Would you recimend it?

yea id def reccommend it. I noticed a big diff. I noticed the throttle response was a lot better and it helped with bottom end torgue

I had a WB rev box, it was just a xr250 box, still had the honda pt# on it, and it left me stranded on the top of a mountain in CO, put the stocker back in to get me home. Now I run a Big Gun over-rev with no limiter and a nice advance, I have had no problems with it! I can start in reverse, and no reverse rev limit either.
But I have been looking into the AMR combo. is the AMR box smaller than the factory one?

The AMR Stage 3 Rev Box I got made the motor difficult to start and once it did start the quad would misfire every 3 to 5 seconds and wouldn't idle with out backfiring and dieing. I put the stock CDI back in and it ran and idled fine.

I notified AMR Racing of the trouble I had and they admitted that their boxes were very "moody". They sent me a ProCom Rev box at no extra cost. The ProCom Rev box works fantastic and I would recomend it if you're going to get one.

I'd like to know which one doesn't affect starting? Here in canada, winters are cold...

Thank you.

The ProCom Rev Box didn't hurt cold starting. In fact, it helped.

id like to know the answer to because when im climbing some of the steeper and softer dunes at glamis, i top out in second but thrid bogs down way too much.

when i changed the gearing 13t front and added the +6 timing key i was able to go into 3rd without any bogging.
but i would still like to get a CDI that doesnt advance timing, just gives more RPM

I think the Curtis Sparks Rev Box just raises the rev limiter and doesn't alter the timing.

my old 400 had a Sparks rev box, and i noticed better throttle response, and a raised rev limit. i think theres is pretty much just a hotter spark.
