relocate ignition switch

on my 400ex i have maier race cuts, currently the ignition is located on the handlebar clamps but i don't like the way it is setup. When i turn the key the whole ignition spins so i have to hold the bottom steady and twist the key. Post pics and info on where you mounted the ignition. Also how do take the ignition and neutral out of where it is set up. the picture is of my quad how it is set up.

for the neutral light just pry the little green lens out of the rubber boot its just pressed into the rubber.

how do you take off the ignition through the original hole? what do you use to keep it from just spinning around in the hole?

Cut the hole small, get a large socket and push it in. it never moved, never even though about it! If you make it small and put a ton of presure on it, with your hands, it will make the hole a perfect size, but dont make it like a pin dot lol, make it so you can fit thee bottom half in. And with taking it off, what do you mean? You got it off the first time....... And if you got it on the clamp and cant get it off, I dont know about that.. :ermm:

yea i did not put it there, when i bought the quad it was like that.

do you disconnect the wires and pull it out or what?

The key switch hole needs to be exactly 1 inch in diameter. You can get a 1 inch hole saw drill bit to make a perfect hole. Its a snug fit and shouldnt ever spin.

If the key switch just spins it should just pop right out. The reason why it spins is because the piece of aluminum for the dash is to thick for the lil tab or tabs that are on the key switch to snap into place.

pop the key switch out and youll see the the lil tab or tabs that snaps to hold it into place.


If you wanted the right kind of dash you could always buy one from ROX speed fx. I have one on my 450r and its nice.

so theres some type of tabs that work when its on the regular plastic?

yes theres just two push in tabs on the ignition.. if you look under neith u'll see them.. just push them in and pust or pull it out
