Photo editing software?

I am looking to make a "movie" of still pics I have and put music in the background. What is the best software to do this? I could do a slide show with PowerPoint but would want something a little better. Any pointers/ways to do this?

windows movie maker is very easy. i made this video in about an hour and a half. the only reason it took that long is because it was my first time using it.
