So I picked up the behemoth of a quad a couple weeks back and it's got MAD problems.

Just one the problems that I need some help on is the carb. It looks like a totally stock 87 250X. And I don't think it's ever been maintained....well, maybe just enough to keep it running. But it did come with a Supertrapp pipe/silencer.

I've been hearing that with a pipe, I really should rejet the carb. I'll also be installing a donated K&N filter, so I'll probably want to rejet it for sure. But just to make sure someone hasn't already done so.......can anyone tell me what size jets I should find inside?

Also, what jet sizes should be used. I think it's a stock cc jug/pistion, etc.... only mods will be the pipe, silencer, and filter.

Thanks.

Micah

I dont think you need to rejet a 250X if you just add a pipe.

Does it run now? If so check the spark plugs to see if its running rich or lean, you may want to put a new plug in it first. ;)

my all stock 1991 250x had a 122 main in and a 38 pilot i think.......but i think either the stock jet on your 87 should be either a 118, 120, or 122, so if it's any bigger it's already been jetted, i would also recommend putting a new plug in it along with oil and a oil filter, ya know, just tune it up a little

my stock was a 125. Mine is an 87 250X.I have owned it since new and know it was never changed. It really depends on the elevation on the area it was purchesed new from. It could have had a 122 or 125, i think it all depends like i said.
