hey everyone.
i picked up my new 'used' 250ex today. some pros and cons...

pros:
pretty good condition considering the cons...(see below).
i thought it was a 2002 but its actually a 2003.
she threw in a aluminum bi-fold loading ramp.
paid $750.00 TOTAL

cons:
bent axle
patched(welded) T/Left A-Arm
needs brakes all around
needs back tires (already have these)
could use seat cover
couple missing bolts/screws here and there
dirty as HELL !

i'll post some pics soon...

Price is good. As long as it runs pretty good, that other stuff can be fixed pretty easily.

I put new brakes pads on front of 04 last weekend, easy job. I've had the drum cover off the back and checked the shoes, fairly easy to get to. You may want to remove the axle and do the rear brakes at same time.

I'm not sure if the axle can be straightened at a machine shop, but it you want to go cheap it may be worth a check.

You should check / adjust the valves as that is pretty easy to do too.

yep, i was thinking the same thing. if I have to remove the rear brake to get to the axle...2 birds with one stone.

i have already ordered the Clymer manual. I know the Honda shop manual is probably better but its also about $50 vs' $25 for the Clymer.

for the a arms mine looked 10000 times worse, so i did

1. sand rusted area and scuff up rest or arm
2. primered it with duplicolar-3 coats
3. painted black with duplicolar engine paint because it holds up better-4 times
4. let sit for 2 days
5.w/ light grit sand paper bareley scuff up paint u just aplied so that the clear coat has something to cling to
6 clear coat - thin layer 10 times

got hit w/ rocks alot AND NOT OUNCE DID THEY CHIP
USE DUPLICOLAR FOR EVERYTHING YOU CANT MIX DIFFERENT KINDS OF PAINT.

thanks,
